Construction of the new multi-use paths ongoing
Starting at approximately 6 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, Fraser Crossing Partners will begin a local closure of Columbia Street between McBride Boulevard and Elliot Street. The closure will facilitate the removal of a section of the Pattullo Bridge over Columbia Street and the start of the construction of the new Columbia on-ramp and East Columbia multi-use path overpass.

In late February, Fraser Crossing Partners will begin removing the Pattullo Bridge. Deconstruction activities will be completed in three phases: onland, above-water, and below-water. Some removal activities will take place concurrently and the overall process will take approximately two years to complete.

Access for pedestrians and cyclists will not be available on the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge until the multi-use path on the east side of the bridge opens this spring. The multi-use path on the west side of the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge will open by mid-2026.
Two options are available for pedestrians and cyclists who want to cross this section of the Fraser River before the multi-use path on the east side of the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge opens this spring.

The Royal Avenue on-ramp is closed for crews to remove a portion of the retaining wall alongside Bridge Connector and advance construction of the new on-ramp, connections to roadways on either side of the new bridge and the Royal-Agnes multi-use path overpass. Drivers can use the Columbia Street loop-ramp (open 24/7) via McBride Boulevard and Columbia Street to access the Pattullo Bridge. GPS and digital maps may not reflect current road configurations. Please follow road signage.

To complete this work, approximately three overnight (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) directional closures of Highway 17 will be required over a two-week period. Only one direction will be closed at a time.
