Bridge Opening

Traffic is being switched to the stal̕əw̓asəm (Riverview) Bridge in phases to allow for connection to the roadways on either side of the new bridge.

The Royal Avenue on-ramp to the Pattullo Bridge is closed for crews to remove a portion of the retaining wall alongside Bridge Connector and advance construction of the new on-ramp, connections to roadways on either side of the new bridge and the Royal-Agnes multi-use path overpass. Access to the Pattullo Bridge is available via Columbia Street loop-ramp, which is open 24/7. The new Royal Avenue on-ramp to the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge will open in late February.

Starting in early February, there will be a closure of both the Pattullo Bridge and the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge for approximately one week to connect the roadways on either side to the new bridge.

The bridges will re-open with four lanes of traffic split between the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge and Pattullo Bridge.

All four lanes, including the new Royal Avenue on-ramp, will open on the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge in late February.

As part of the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project, the Pattullo Bridge will be removed after the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge is open. The removal process for the Pattullo Bridge will take approximately two years. Learn more about Pattullo Bridge deconstruction

Bridge Opening in New Westminster

The new Royal Avenue on-ramp and new Columbia Street loop-ramp will open in phases as they cannot be completed until sections of the connecting roadways and the Pattullo Bridge have been removed. Learn more about construction activities in New Westminster after bridge opening

A local closure of Columbia Street between McBride Boulevard and Elliot Street, for approximately one month, will be required to deconstruct the Pattullo Bridge and build the new Columbia loop-ramp (see local closure map).  

Parts of the Pattullo Bridge must be removed to complete on-ramp construction for the new bridge.
Multi-use paths as well as Royal Avenue on-ramp and Columbia Street loop-ramp will be completed after the Pattullo Bridge is partially removed.

Bridge Opening in Surrey

The new Highway 17 off-ramp as well as multi-use paths and sidewalks will be completed in mid-2026, as they cannot be completed until the Pattullo Bridge has been partially removed. Learn more about construction activities in Surrey after bridge opening

Parts of the Pattullo Bridge must be removed to complete off-ramp construction for the new bridge.
