Four lanes are open on the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge. People travelling from New Westminster can access the bridge via McBride Boulevard and the new Royal Avenue on-ramp. People travelling from Surrey can access the bridge from King George Boulevard and Scott Road.

Bridge Opening in New Westminster

The new Columbia Street on-ramp will open after the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge opens with all four lanes, as it cannot be completed until sections of the connecting roadways and the Pattullo Bridge have been removed. Learn more about construction activities in New Westminster after bridge opening

A local closure of Columbia Street between McBride Boulevard and Elliot Street, for approximately four to six weeks, will be required to deconstruct the Pattullo Bridge and build the new Columbia on-ramp (see local closure map).  

Parts of the Pattullo Bridge must be removed to complete on-ramp construction for the new bridge.
Multi-use paths as well as Columbia Street on-ramp will be completed after the Pattullo Bridge is partially removed.

Bridge Opening in Surrey

The new Highway 17 off-ramp as well as multi-use paths and sidewalks will be completed in mid-2026, as they cannot be completed until the Pattullo Bridge has been partially removed. Learn more about construction activities in Surrey after bridge opening
