Engagement on the Broadway Subway Project has been underway for a number of years during the planning phases, and will continue throughout the duration of the project.

Currently, the team is working closely with local businesses, services, schools and residents. Future public engagement opportunities will be posted here. You can also register for our project e-newsletter to receive updates by email.

August 2019 Street Survey

In mid-August, representatives of the Broadway Subway Project asked people on the street and in busy areas about why they’ve come to the area, how they traveled there, and other related information.

July 2019 Launch of Business Survey

In July and August representatives went door-to-door and floor-to-floor along Broadway, 8th Avenue, 10th Avenue and cross streets between Kingsway and Vine to speak with local business managers and owners, gathering information to learn more about access, customers, product or services, and communications preferences.

To date, close to 2,000 surveys have been completed. Feedback is helping inform traffic and construction management and mitigation plans.

June 2019 Pop-Up at Main Street Car Free Day

December 2016 – July 2017 (TransLink)

  • Planning Stage 1: December 2016 to February 2017
    Information on the route and alignment was shared with stakeholders and the public.
  • Planning Stage 2: May to July 2017
    Stakeholders and the public provided input on construction considerations and mitigations, and station design features.

UBC Line Rapid Transit Study 2009-2012 (TransLink)

An evaluation of approximately 200 technology and route options was completed along with extensive stakeholder and public engagement.
